View experienceBest Time to Visit Mallorca and the Most Balanced Months
For a balanced first trip, May, June, September and early October are usually the best months. During these periods, the weather is pleasant, the days are long, most hotels and restaurants are open, and the island feels easier to enjoy than in peak summer.
May is ideal for villages, countryside, Palma and scenic drives, with the first proper beach days if the weather is kind. June already feels like summer, but without the full pressure of July and August. September is one of the most complete months: the sea is still warm, the light is beautiful and the island begins to relax after the busiest weeks. October can be lovely too, with softer light and fewer crowds, although the weather becomes less predictable.
July and August are good months if you want pure summer: beaches, heat, nightlife, beach clubs and a lively international atmosphere. But they are also the most expensive and crowded months, and moving around the island requires more patience.
Is Mallorca Very Hot or Cold?
Summer in Mallorca is hot, especially in July and August. On the coast, the sea breeze helps, but Palma and the inland areas can feel heavy during the middle of the day. For a beach holiday, this works well. For hiking, sightseeing or long drives, it is better to start early and avoid the strongest hours of heat.
Winter is usually mild, but Mallorca feels completely different. There are sunny and pleasant days, but also humidity, wind and cool evenings. It is a good season for travellers looking for peace, nature and a more authentic side of the island, but not for those expecting daily swims and a lively summer mood.
Does It Rain a Lot?
Mallorca is not an especially rainy destination, but most rain falls in autumn and winter. October and November can bring beautiful days, but also heavier showers. September is usually a very good month, although occasional storms can appear at the end of summer.
For the lowest chance of rain, June, July and August are the safest months. For fewer crowds and still pleasant weather, May, September and October are more attractive, though slightly less predictable.
When Is High Season?
High season in Mallorca runs mainly from mid-June to the end of August, with July and August as the busiest months. During this period, the island operates at full speed: hotels are full, restaurants often require reservations, famous beaches get crowded and prices rise sharply.
August is the most difficult month if you are looking for peace. The coves are still beautiful, but arriving late can mean struggling to park or sharing the beach with many other travellers. Mallorca is still worth visiting in August, but only with realistic expectations.

When Is Mallorca Cheaper?
The cheapest time to visit Mallorca is usually outside the beach season, especially in November, December, January, February and March. April, May and October can also offer better prices, although Easter, public holidays and special dates may increase demand.
For good value without losing the essence of the island, May, the first half of June, late September and October are often excellent choices. The weather is generally pleasant, availability is better and the island feels less pressured.
When Are There Fewer Tourists?
The quietest months are winter and early spring. January, February and March reveal a calmer Mallorca, with quieter roads, peaceful villages and a more visible local rhythm. The downside is that some coastal tourist areas may feel sleepy, with hotels, bars or restaurants closed.
For Mallorca without crowds while still keeping services, atmosphere and decent weather, April, May, October and early November are very good options. You may not get the postcard summer version every day, but you will find an island that is easier, slower and more enjoyable to explore.
Festivals and Important Events
Mallorca has events and local festivities throughout the year. January brings traditional celebrations such as Sant Antoni and Sant Sebastià, with bonfires, music and a strong local atmosphere. Spring is a wonderful time for fairs, markets, cultural events and village life. Summer brings concerts, patron saint festivals, busy terraces and nightlife. In autumn, the island becomes more gastronomic, with local produce, fairs and a quieter mood.
For local culture, spring and autumn are especially rewarding. For parties, music and nightlife, summer offers the widest choice, especially in Palma, Magaluf, Playa de Palma and some coastal resorts.
So, When Should You Go?
For beaches and reliable weather, June and September are the best choices. For heat, parties and a lively atmosphere, July and August work well. For villages, hiking and fewer crowds, May, October and early November are better. For lower prices and a more local Mallorca, winter can be a good option, as long as you are not expecting a beach holiday.
Mallorca is far more enjoyable when you choose the right time. In August, it can feel expensive, crowded and tiring. In May or September, it often feels brighter, softer and more balanced. The island’s beauty does not disappear, but its rhythm changes completely; and that rhythm can define the whole trip.
